Army to Supervise 1,000-Bed Covid-19 Isolation Centre at DNCC Market

The Bangladesh Army will supervise the 1,000-bed insulation unit for coronavirus patients on the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) market in the capital city of Mohakhali.

Army members will run the isolation centre with the aid of the Ministry of Health, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reads the press release.

Covid-19 patients (mild cases) who have been referred from different hospitals will be treated at the insulation centre. However, if the situation of the hospitalized patient deteriorates or needs intensive care, he or she should be sent to a specialist facility, the press release stated.

According to the press release, a Brigadier General of the Force will be appointed director of the Isolation Centre. A core group of doctors, health workers and administrative officers will be appointed to ensure adequate treatment.

The Directorate-General of Health Services will appoint the health workers and physicians required.

Necessary steps have been taken to soon launch the insolation centre.

A 300-bed facility, with 50 ICU rooms, is now being set up on the sixth floor of the DNCC market.
