The Government is planning to reduce the number of higher secondary and equivalent examinations to quickly complete this year's academic session, which has been on hold due to the coronavirus epidemic.

Exams will take place 15 days after the situation in the country is under power, Education Minister Dipu Moni said in a virtual discussion on Saturday, reports the media.

All academic institutions in the country were shut down in the wake of the coronavirus epidemic on March 17. The HSC and similar tests were expected to begin on April 01 but were subsequently postponed. After many cycles of extension, the government prolonged the closure of schools and colleges until August 06.

With the outbreak showing no indication of abating, both students and guardians are deeply worried about the possibility of this year's tests.

"I said before that if the condition is correct, we will schedule the exams within 15 days. We have to offer students a 15-day notice. We have to allow them time to study," Dipu Moni said.

In the current circumstances, many have called for trimming of the HSC syllabus, but the Minister of Education rejected the suggestion.

"There is no need to minimize the syllabus because students have already finished it."
