7 Killed in Dinajpur Road Accident

At least 7 people were killed and several others injured as a bus knocked down an auto van in Birganj Upazila of Dinajpur district on Monday noon.

Four passengers of the van died on the spot while three others died on way to Birganj Upazila Health Complex and M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital in Dinajpur Sadar.

The deceased are: Nasrin Begum (50) and her daughter Rupa Khatun (8) of Birganj upazila; Abul Hossain (60) and his wife Asma Khatun (45) and granddaughter Namia Khatun (8) of Kaharol upazila; Nargis Akhter (35) of Birganj upazila and the rickshaw van driver (name could not be known).

The accident took place at 2:00 pm in the upazila’s 25 Mile area on the Dinajpur-Thakurgaon highway.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Matin of Birganj Thana confirmed the matter to the media.
