Two thousand more doctors will be recruited by the government through a special BCS emergency examination to combat the coronavirus crisis.
The Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health has sent a proposal to the Ministry of Public Administration in this regard. If approved by the Prime Minister, the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) will issue a special BCS circular.
Earlier, the 39th special BCS examination was held only to appoint physicians. As many as 4,542 were appointed as assistant surgeons and 250 as assistant dental surgeons through the examination.
Another 8,107 did not obtain any recruiting suggestions because there were no empty posts. Among them, 2,000 were appointed as assistant surgeons on May 4.
The 39th special BCS circular was issued on 10 April 2018. The preliminary examination took place on 3 August of that year. A total of 37,538 candidates took part in the examinations, where 13,570 doctors passed the test.
