The country is yet to get congenial atmosphere for resuming physical operation of educational institutions, said Primary and Mass Education Secretary Md Akram-al-Hossain.

He was addressing journalists at his office in the secretariat on Sunday.

''It is not an appropriate time to open schools and resume academic activities physically. You (journalists) also know if the educational institutions should go for physical operation or not,'' he said, hinting at corona prevalence in the country.

Opening schools will see the rampant visits of the children and guardians putting the country in great danger, he said.

''We opened some schools which were shut again due to deterioration of the corona situation. Should we take any decision compromising with the safety of the children?''

About a proposal allowing respective educational institutions to hold the Primary Education Certificate Examination, he said the proposal is pending with the decision of the Prime Minister's Office.
