Two Alleged Militants Held in Rajshahi

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two alleged outfits of the outlawed Ansar Al Islam from a village in the city last night, RAB sources said on Sunday.

The arrestees were identified as Abdun Nur alias Masud, 19, son of late Abdur Razzaque and Sarwar Jahan alias Farhad, 20, son of Setab Uddin, both are the residents of Old C&B Ghat area in Chapainawabgonj Sadar Upazila.

On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a raid in Boro Bangram area under Shahmukhdum Police Station and arrested them around 10.15 pm. They were reportedly holding an anti-state secret meeting at that time.

The RAB team also seized some controversial books and leaflets from their possession, the sources added.

A case was recorded with the police station in this connection and the arrested persons along with the seized goods were handed over to police Sunday.
