A prisoner sentenced to life imprisonment was missing from Kashimpur Central Jail-2 on Thursday.
Jail Super Jahanara Begum came up with information that Abu Bakar Siddique had been missing since the evening, reports UNB.
The jail authorities did not find him inside the jail on Friday morning.
Siddique, a descendant of Abad Chandipur in Shyamnagar Upazila in Satkhira, was transferred from Rajshahi to Kashimpur Central Jail as a death row convict in 2011.
On 27 July 2012, the court redirected his death penalty and sentenced him to life imprisonment on a case-by-case basis.
Earlier on May 13, 2015, Abu Bakar was still missing from jail as he was hiding inside the prison. Later, the prison authorities found him inside a septic tank the following day.
The officials concerned even believed that he may have kept him locked inside the prison like he had done before.
Commissioner Anwar Hossain of Gazipur Metropolitan Police said the jail authorities conducted a search operation inside the complex and if they failed to find him then they will inform him officially. A general diary will be lodged after that.
