Scientists of Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) have said that Coronavirus is being mutated rapidly in Bangladesh compared to other countries of the world.

The BCSIR revealed this information after the genome sequencing of samples.

Decoding the genome sequence of 300 Covid-19 samples collected from eight divisions of the country, BCSIR scientists said sample mutation rate is 7.23 percent across the globe whereas in Bangladesh the rate is 12.60 percent.

As a result, the Sars-COVID-2 virus is continuously changing its nature. Bangladeshi Scientists have discovered four-stage mutations in all the samples.

It was obtained that the virus in Bangladesh greatly resembles the virus in European nations, BCSIR said.
