BFF Election: Aspirants to Submit Nominations Today

Aspiring candidates for election to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) will send their nomination forms to returning officers on Tuesday to secure their candidacy in the polls scheduled for October 3rd.

BFF's incumbent president Kazi Salahuddin, senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy, Bashundhara Kings President Imrul Hasan bought nomination papers for BFF Election at BFF House in the capital earlier Monday.

In a bid to retain his seat, BFF President Kazi Salahuddin bought the nomination paper while Abdus Salam Murshedy gathered nomination papers for senior vice president.

Bashundhara Kings President Imrul Hassan has bought nomination papers for BFF vice-president post. The organizer, famous for introducing efficient methods of corporate culture into the football arena in Bangladesh, expressed his determination to contribute to bringing back the golden days of football in Bangladesh.

But incumbent BFF vice president Badal Roy and Lt Sheik Jamal Dhanmondi Club Ltd Head Coach Shafiqul Islam Manik got the biggest surprise as both of them bought presidential nominations against incumbent BFF president Kazi Salahuddin who also bought nomination the same day.

Mohammad Aslam also bought senior vice-president positions while incumbent vice-president Kazi Nabil Ahmed, SM Abdullah Al Fuad, Md Amirul Islam Babu and Md Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan Manik purchased vice-president appointments.

Besides these, on the day a total of 23 nominations for members of the executive committee posts were sold.

Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi and Tabith Awal bought vice-president nominations on Saturday, while the President of the Bangladesh Police FC and Additional IGP Sheik Mohammad Maruf Hasan bought vice-president nomination on the second day on Sunday.

BFF confirmed that a total of 49 nomination papers were sold in three days of nomination distribution including three for president, two for senior vice-president, eight for vice-presidents and thirty-six for executive committee members.

The three-time BFF President Kazi Salahuddin also announced his 21-member panel titled ‘Sammilita Parishad’ at BFF House on the day.

Candidates for president, senior vice-president and one vice-president remained unchanged. They are Kazi Salahuddin, Abdus Salam Murshedy and Kazi Nabil Ahmed. Kings President Imrul Hasan, current ex-co member Amirul Islam Babu and Chairman of Toma Group Md Ataur Rahman Bhuiyan Manik are three new VP candidates from the panel.

Harunur Rashid, Shawkat Ali Khan Jahangir, Mahfuza Akter Kiron, Satyajit Das Rupu, Md Ilias Hossain,  Bijon Barua, Md Iqbal Hossain, Amit Khan Shuvro, Mahiuddin Ahmed Selim, Jakir Hossain Chowdhury stayed put with Salahuddin while Syed Riazul Karim, Kamrul Hasan Hilton, Imtiaz Ahmed Sabuj, Md Asaduzzaman Mithu and Nurul Islam Nuru are new member candidates in the panel.

Shamsul Haq Chowdhury and Saleh Jaman Selim were introduced as chief coordinator and co-ordinator respectively.

The much anticipated BFF election and congress will take place at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel on October 3. The 139 councilors, including the president, senior vice president, four vice presidents and fifteen members, will be eligible to exercise their franchise to form the 21-member BFF Executive Committee.

Oppositions to nomination papers and review of nomination papers will be held on September 9 and 10, respectively, according to the schedule. The last date for withdrawal of the nomination is September 11 while the final list will be released on September 12.
