The government has not ordered the reopening of schools, said Primary and Mass Education Senior Secretary Akram-Al-Hossain.
''Time is not congenial enough to resume on-ground academic activities and the ministry has not passed any order to open schools,'' he said, rejecting some media reports.
What the ministry did is it asked the school authorities to make preparations as to the safety and hygiene of children.
He was briefing reporters at his office at the secretariat on Wednesday.
Earlier, some guidelines were issued for the school authorities and teachers to adopt preemptive tactics against Covid-19 and ensure 100 percent hygiene for children.
The issuance of guidelines has created confusion, he added.
