BD Logs 34 More COVID-19 Deaths And 1,792 New Cases

Bangladesh logs 34 more deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours till 8 a.m. on Friday.

The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 4,668, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The death rate among Covid-19 infected patients in the country is 1.39 percent.

In the 24-hour duration, 1,792 people tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of novel coronavirus cases in the country to 3,34,762.

In the same period, 14,961 samples were collected and 14,747 samples were tested in 94 labs across the country. To date, 1,704,758 samples have been tested.

The latest day's infection rate was 12.15 percent, while the total infection rate was 19.64 percent.

Of the patients who died, 25 were males and nine were females. In addition, nineteen of them hailed from Dhaka, five from Chattogram, three from Khulna and Rangpur, one from Rajshahi and Sylhet, and two from Barishal, the DGHS said.

All of the patients died in different hospitals across the country, said the press release.

Of the 34 deceased, one each from age groups 31 to 40 and 41 to 50, and 16 of each from age groups 51 to 60 and above 60.

2,434 patients were declared free from the novel coronavirus in 24 hours. The total number of recoveries was 2,36,024, while the rate of recovery was 70.51%.

Division-wise, 2,258 of the Covid-19 patients were from Dhaka, 989 from Chattogram, 312 from Rajshahi, 396 from Khulna, 180 from Barishal, 210 from Sylhet, 223 from Rangpur and 100 from Mymensingh.

As of Friday, some 914,256 people have died from coronavirus infection globally and 28,351,973 more have been infected during the period, according to Worldometer.
