Global Coronavirus Cases Exceed 28.3m: JHU

According to the latest count from Johns Hopkins University (JHU) the Confirmed Covid-19 cases passed 28.3 million worldwide as of Saturday morning. 

Covid-19's global cumulative death toll estimated to be 912,242 in 188 countries with the virus.

The JHU data indicates a total of 19,092,201 people have so far been healed from infection with the virus.

The US posted the highest caseload and death toll in the world, with 6,442,557 cases and a death rate of 192,936.

Moreover, India, where coronavirus cases are rising steadily and has become the second worst-hit country with 4,562,414 records of recorded coronavirus cases.

In the South Asian region, the death toll from the virus has reached 76,271 to date.

Besides, Brazil’s Covid-19 death toll surpassed 129,522 while the country’s total caseload counted 4,238,446.

Bangladesh situation

Bangladesh confirmed 34 deaths and 1,792 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours until Friday morning.

Currently the death count stands at 4,668 with a fatality rate of 1.39 percent, while the number of coronavirus cases rose to 334,762.

Tested 14,747 samples in the last 24 hours. The daily rate of infection was 12.15 percent.  

As 2,474 patients recovered, the recovery rate continued to rise to 70.5 per cent, bringing the overall recovery to 236,024.

There are 1,965,64 cases registered per million inhabitants, and 1385,88 recover while 27,41 are dying, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a press release.
