Due to the spread of coronavirus, Junior School Certificate Examination (JSC) and Madrasa Board Junior Entry Certificate (JDC) examination will not be held this year.

Therefore, the Department of Secondary and Higher Education has directed to promote the JSC and JDC candidates to the ninth class on the basis of the evaluation of their respective educational institutions.

The instruction was stated in an order signed by the Assistant Director-1 of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education on Tuesday.

Earlier on September 1, the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education sent a letter to the Secretary of the Technical and Madrasa Education Department, the Director-General of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education and the chairmen of all education boards to take necessary steps to upgrade students to ninth grade through their respective educational institutions without conducting JSC-JDC examinations.

Following that letter, the Dhaka Board on September 2 directed the heads of the educational institutions to promote the students to the ninth grade on the basis of their assessment through their respective educational institutions.

In a letter issued by the Dhaka Board of Education on September 2, it was said that considering the overall situation due to coronavirus infection, students will be promoted to the ninth class on the basis of assessment through their respective educational institutions without taking this year's JSC and JDC exams.

The heads of the educational institutions will be given timely instructions on what to do next in this regard. That instruction was officially given today.
