Former DUCSU VP Nur Released

Former vice-president (VP) of the Dhaka University Central Student Union (Ducsu) Nurul Haque Nur was released Within an hour of his arrest.

DB Joint Commissioner Mahbub Alam confirmed the matter.

He was arrested on Monday (September 21) at around 7.30 pm on charges of rape as well as the assault on police. He was then taken to the DB office. Shortly afterward, he was released.

Earlier, he was arrested from a protest rally at Shahbagh in the capital.

A student of Dhaka University brought rape charges against him. Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Lalbagh Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Biplob Vijay Talukder confirmed the matter.

He said a student of Dhaka University filed a rape case against Nur on Sunday night (September 20). He also said that the matter is being investigated.

It is learned that a student of Dhaka University filed the case with Lalbagh Police Station. Several people including Nur have been accused in the case.

The accused are- Hasan Al Mamun, Nazmul Hasan, Nurul Haque Nur, Md. Saiful Islam, Nazmul Huda and Abdullah Hill are left. The main accused, Hassan al-Mamun, and Nur have been charged with aiding and abetting rape.
