Section 144 Imposed in Narayanganj

The Narayanganj District Administration has imposed Section 144 in the City Corporation and surrounding areas following meetings held at the same time by two Islamist groups.

Hefajat-e-Islam and Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat arranged a meeting at the same time on Sunday, according to the sources.

The restriction will come into effect at 6 am on Sunday and will continue till further notice.

Narayanganj City Corporation, Chasara Shahid Minar and Khanpur 300-bed Hospital and adjacent to the area are subject to an injunction.

Local authorities have taken steps to prevent any untoward incident, as two Islamist groups have called for a meeting at the same time.

The meeting was held on a Facebook post about Allama Shah Ahmed Shafi, Leader of Hefajat-e-Islam.

Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat called a meeting to condemn the arrest of the radical Alauddin for a degrading Facebook post on late Amir Allama Ahmad Shafi. Hefajat-e-Islam also welcomed a counter-meeting.
