MC College Gang-Rape: Another Accused Mafuzur Arrested

Police arrested another accused in a case filed over a woman's gang rape on Friday at Murari Chand (MC) College in Sylhet.

The arrestee is Mahfuzur Rahman Masum (25) from the village of Gachhbari under Kanaighat upazila in Sylhet.

Mafuzur was arrested in the Haripur area of Jaintapur Upazila at 11:30 p.m. on Monday.

Md Shamsuddoha, officer in charge of the Kanaighat Police Station, confirmed the news.

So far, the five identified accused have been arrested by the law enforcement authorities in the case.

However, the location of Tareque – another accused in the case – remains unknown.

Unnamed accused in the gang rape case -- Rajan and Ainul Islam -- have also been held by the police.

The other accused arrested are: Saifur, Roni, Arjun, and Rabiul. Among them, Saifur, Arjun and Rabiul have been put on five-day remands each by the Sylhet court on Monday.

A 19-year-old married girl was raped by a group of youth in a college dorm on Friday night.

The suspects tied up the victim's husband and raped her in a college.

The victim’s husband filed a case at Shah Poran Police Station in the early hours of Saturday against nine people mentioning the names of six.
