At the Mawa end of the Louhjong Upazila of Munshiganj on Saturday, the 32nd span of the much-hyped Padma Bridge will be installed.

Dewan Abdul Quader, an executive engineer of the Padma Bridge Project, said the 1-d span is expected to be installed on pillars No 4 and 5 of the bridge.

The work for the Tian-E crane at Mawa to take the span near pillar no 4-5 began about 10:30 am from the advanced construction yard of Kumarbhog.

4,800 meters of the 6.15-kilometer-long bridge will be visible as the pillar is installed.

After the completion of the 31st span about 4 months ago, this span is being installed.

Once in operation, the Padma Bridge, Bangladesh’s largest infrastructure project till date, will connect 21 southern districts with the capital and boost the GDP by 1 percent.
