According to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Saturday, India registered 73,272 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total caseload to 69,79,423, while 59,88,822 people have recovered so far, pushing the recovery rate to 85.81 percent.
Data updated at 8 am showed that the death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 1,07,416 with 926 individuals succumbing to the disease in a period of 24 hours, reports PTI.
For the second day in a row, the number of active COVID-19 cases remained below 9 lakh.
According to the report, there are 8,83,185 active coronavirus infection cases in the country, which make up 12.65 percent of the total caseload.
At 1.54 percent, the COVID-19 case fatality rate was recorded.
On August 7, 30 lakh on August 23 and 40 lakh on September 5, India's COVID-19 tally surpassed the 20-lakh mark. On September 16, it went past 50 lakh, and on September 28 it reached 60 lakh.
Until October 9, a cumulative 8,57,98,698 samples were tested, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). On Friday, as many as 11,64,018 samples were tested.
