Death Penalty to 5 Rapists under Amended Law

A court has handed death sentence to 5 people under the newly amended law after it found them guilty of gang-raping a madrasa girl in Bhuapur Upazila of Tangail.

Tangail's Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Khaleda Yasmin passed the verdict on Thursday morning.

The convicts have been identified as Sagor Chandra, Sujon Moni Rishi, Rajon, Sanjit and Gopi Chandra Sheel.

Of the five, Sanjit and Gopi Chandra Sheel are behind the bars while the rest remain fugitive of the law.
