The body of Rayhan, who died after allegedly being tortured inside Bandarbazar Police Outpost in Sylhet on Sunday, was exhumed on Thursday morning for fresh autopsy.

The body was dug out from the grave in Akhalia of the Sylhet city around 10:00 am in the presence of district administration executive magistrates Sajib Ahmed and Mejbah Uddin.

Later, the body was sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Earlier on Wednesday, a Sylhet court ordered the exhumation of the body of the young man for further autopsy.

Rayhan Ahmed, 34, a resident of Akharia in Sylhet city, was allegedly beaten to death in police custody on Sunday, his family said.

His wife Tahmina Akter Tanni filed a case at Kotwali Police Station early Monday accusing a number of unidentified people.

Police rejected the allegation and said Rayhan was caught by locals of the Kastghar area during the robbery and was lynched.

The authorities on Monday suspended four policemen, including the in-charge of Bandarbazar Police outpost, over the incident.

Besides, the case was transferred to the Police Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday
