The World Health Organization (WHO) has enlisted the vaccine Covid-19 developed by Bangladeshi firm Globe Biotech.
Globe vaccine was listed in the WHO draft landscape for Covid-19 candidate vaccines on 15 October.
Earlier, the International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (icddr, b) said it will hold a human trial of BANCOVID, a Covid-19 vaccine developed by Globe Biotech.
Icddr, b is now seeking permission from the Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC) to conduct the trial, officials said.
On Wednesday, icddr,b signed a memorandum of understanding with the company to conduct the trial.
This came at a time when the Chinese company Sinovac Biotech's vaccine trial has become uncertain because of co-funding issues.
