Global Deaths from COVID-19 Crosses 1,108,607

According to the new Johns Hopkins University (JHU) tally, the global coronavirus death toll reached 1,108,607 as of Sunday.

In addition, the overall Covid-19 case load exceeded 39.5 million as 39,589,400 more cases have been confirmed around the world, the JHU data shows.

Globally, 27,148,927 patients infected from the virus have recovered by the time.

With 8,102,142 cases and 219,157 fatalities, which is the largest number of single-country deaths in the world, the US continues to be the worst-affected country due to the virus.

In addition, India's total caseload reached 7,432,680, while as of Sunday morning, the South Asian country had reported 112,998 deaths. The Covid-19 pandemic has made India the second worst-hit country.

The death toll from Covid-19 reached 153,675 in Brazil since the country has counted 5,224,362 cases, according to the JHU data.

Bangladesh coronavirus situation

Bangladesh saw another increase in Covid-19 patients on Saturday as health authorities announced the identification in 24 hours of 1,209 new cases across the country, raising the case load to 3,87,295.

23 more patients died from Covid-19 during the time , bringing the death toll to 5,646.

In addition, 1,560 patients recovered from the disease, and overall coronavirus recovery rose to 3,02,298.

The fatality rate in Bangladesh is still 1.46 percent, a handout of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

Covid-19 vaccine   

On Saturday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said there are requests for clinical trials of the Covid-19 vaccine from Bangladesh, Myanmar, Qatar and Bhutan.

Indian scientists and research teams in neighboring countries — Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bhutan, the Maldives, Mauritius, Nepal and Sri Lanka — are collaborating and strengthening research capacities.

In India, three vaccines are in the advanced stages of development, two of which are in Phase II and one is in Phase III.

In an attempt to assist the global community, Modi directed that their efforts should not be limited to their immediate neighborhood, but should also reach out to the entire world to provide the vaccine distribution system with vaccinations, medicines and IT platforms.

Bangladesh vaccine goes into WHO list

Three coronavirus vaccines prepared by Globe Biotech Limited of Bangladesh have been added to the vaccine candidate list by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The three vaccines are the D614 G mRNA variant vaccine, the DNA plasmid vaccine, and the Adenovirus type 5 vector vaccine.

According to a press release from Globe Biotech Limited, Globe Biotech is the only drug company that has earned approval for its three vaccines.
