Afsana Mimi Made Director of Shilpakala Academy

Renowned actress Afsana Mimi has been appointed director of the Bangladesh Shilpakal Academy.

The Government has appointed a renowned actor to the role on a contractual basis for a period of three years.

On Wednesday, Deputy Secretary Oliur Rahman signed notice of the Gazette in this regard.

Hasan Mahmud, Public Relations Officer of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, confirmed the matter to the media on Saturday morning.

Born in 1968, Mimi began her career with the Nagorik Natya Sampradaya theater troupe. Her last play was Prachyanat Raja Ebong Onnanno in 2011. Mimi made her breakthrough in acting in the Bengali TV drama Kothao Keu Nei in 1990. 

Mimi started directing in 2000. She directed Kaser Manush. She worked on a cooking show on ATN News named Nostalgia.

Mimi serves as the director of Ichchhetola, a cultural centre in Dhaka.
