The University Grants Commission (UGC) has urged private universities in the country to put in place successful measures to upgrade the curriculum of existing academic programmes.

The call was made by an order sent today to the Vice-Chancellors and Registrars of Private Universities, a press release said.

Under the terms of the approval of the program, private universities were directed, in 2019, to update the approved syllabus every four years from the date of registration for each program, in compliance with the standard syllabus guidelines of the Commission.

The UGC said that modern and up-to-date curricula, the diversification of subjects, the unveiling of new horizons in science and technology are important elements for achieving the desired standard of higher education.

The UGC has suggested that necessary steps should be taken to update the current approved programmes.
