38th Span of Padma Bridge to Be Installed Today

The 38th span of the 6.15-kilometer Padma Bridge would be installed on Saturday at Mawa point in Louhoganj if the weather remained favorable and no technical problems occur.

The span will be installed on the first and second pillars of the Mawa-end in Munshiganj. Following the completion of the 38th span, 5.750 meters or more than 5.75 kilometers of the bridge will become visible.

The 37th span of the bridge was installed on November 12, putting a total of more than 5.55km of the gigantic structure into view.

In the meantime, following the completion of the 38th span, the 39th span (2-D) will be installed on Piers 10 and 11 on 23 November, the 40th span (2-E) on Piers 11 and 12 on 2 December, and the 41st span (2-F) on Piers 12 and 13 on 10 December.

The 6.15-km long double-layer bridge will have a total of 41 spans to be built on 42 piers—21 piers at Mawa-end and 21 piers at Jajira-end as all piers have already become visible.

The multipurpose Padma Bridge is expected to be opened in 2021.
