Bangladesh Sees Spike in COVID19 Deaths

Bangladesh saw a rise in deaths from coronavirus infections as health authorities reported 28 more deaths in 24 hours until Saturday, pursing the death toll to 6,350.

During this period,1,848 new cases were detected, bringing the total tally to 445,281.

The death rate stood at 1.43 percent, said the Directorate General of Health Services.

So far, 360,352 patients -- 80.93 percent -- including 1,921new ones in the last 24 hours have recovered.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8. The infection number reached the 300,000-mark on August 26. The first death was reported on March 18 and the death toll exceeded 6,000 on November 4.

Until now, 2,635,202 tests have been carried out, including 12,643 new ones, and 14.61 percent of the patients turned out to be positive.

Bangladesh is seeing 2614.59 infections, 2115.90 recoveries, and 37.29 deaths per million.
