Quoting India's ministry of external affairs, Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen said that Bangladesh will be the first country to get the COVID-19 vaccine from India.

He came up with the remarks rejecting a report that saidys India bans corona vaccine export.

''Indian foreign ministry has informed us that Bangladesh will get the vaccine on a priority basis. We have nothing to be worried about,'' he said.

Terming the statement of an official of Serum Institute personal and premature, the Indian foreign ministry said such a statement does not reflect the state policy.

Giving Bangladesh corona vaccine is a part of the high-level commitment of the Indian government which was given during talks between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her counterpart Narendra Modi.

''Earlier, Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka said Serum vaccine is yet to be approved by WHO and to be applied on an emergency basis only.'' Momen said.

''Nobody has to worry. Vaccine will come in due time.''
