Tech for Women Health Protection Imperative

Experts have stressed the application of modern technology for the health protection of women to ensure their rights to medical services.

Addressing a roundtable of Kaler Kantho on Saturday, policy experts and practitioners also stressed women's health awareness breaking a social taboo.

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Rubana Huq was a special guest while Kaler Kantho Editor Imdadul Haq Milan made the address of welcome at the meeting at the head office of the newspaper in the capital.

Development organization – Konna supported the roundtable while Konna co-founder Kaniz Fatima moderated the session.

In an address of welcome, noted writer, Imdadul Haq Milan said the health issues of women remained unsung in the country as many of them cannot share the problem in the pressure of families due to social restriction and stigma.

BGMEA President Rubana Huq said the trade body has been working together with the hospitals to ensure sound physician and mental health of apparel workers to foster a worker-friendly environment at the factory.

Among others, actor Ferdous Ahmed, SME Foundation General Manager Farzana Khan,  ICT Division senior consultant Siddhartha Goswami, SNV Netherlands business advisor Jamal Uddin, Bangladesh Women Chamber and Commerce treasurer Sangita Khan and Prime Bank's head of segment Shaila Abedin were present on the occasion.
