All tourist spots in Rangamati districts have been shut down for two weeks to help prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country.

Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mizanur Rahman made the announcement on Wednesday.

Earlier, he held a meeting with local businessmen, government officials and other prominent figures of the district.

Local administrations of the district advised tourists not to visit the spots until further notice.

Earlier on Monday, the government imposed a new set of restrictions, including a ban on all public gatherings in areas with high rate of infections in light of the rising cases of Covid-19 in the country.

In a gazette notification, it asked to limit gatherings in all types of events, including social, political and religious.
