Hefazat Leader Mufti Sharif Ullah Remanded

A Dhaka court o Wednesday placed assistant publicity secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam Mufti Sharif Ullah on a one-day remand a case filed under the Special Powers Act with the Jatrabari Police Station on May 6, 2013.

Judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate court passed the order after police produced him before it with a 7-day remand prayer.

Earlier on Tuesday, police arrested Mufti Sharif Ullah from the capital's Mir Hajirbagh area.

On 5 May of 2013, thousands of Hefazat activists thronged to the Dhaka thoroughfares and held a demonstration at the Shapla Chattar of Motijheel.

At different spots, they clashed with the members of law enforcement agencies and carried out extensive vandalism across the city.
