Bangladesh Sends 2nd consignment of Medical Supplies to India

Bangladesh provided a second cargo of medical supplies to India's COVID-affected population on Tuesday (May 18). 

Bangladesh's Deputy High Commissioner in Kolkata handed out 2672 cartons of medications and protective equipment to a representative of the Indian Red Cross Society in Petrapole on Tuesday, stated the Foreign Ministry.

These medical supplies arrived in four covered vehicles at the Benapole-Petrapole land port on Tuesday morning. 

As directed by Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and coordinated and enabled by the Foreign Ministry, the Health Ministry delivered these medical supplies, manufactured by Essential Drugs Co Ltd. 

Antibiotics, paracetamols, various types of injections/vials, and hand sanitizers are among the 18 COVID-related medical supplies included in the shipment.

Bangladesh donated the first batch of 10,000 vials of antiviral injectable Remdisivir to India on May 6, 2021, as a gift to the Indian people, amid an extraordinary outbreak of COVID 19. 

Earlier, Bangladesh's Prime Minister conveyed her condolences to the Indian people and reaffirmed Bangladesh's commitment to stand with her closest neighbor India during this difficult period, promising to assist in every manner necessary.
