Italy has extended the entry ban on people travelling from Bangladesh in a move to tackle the Indian variant of Covid-19.

A spokesman for Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza said in a statement that the ban has been extended till 21 June.

Italy issued the directive on Sunday, the day when the previously imposed travel ban was due to end, reports media.

Besides Bangladesh, the extended ban will be applicable to travellers from Sri Lanka and India as well.

However, citizens of the country would not be subjected to the ban, so Italian citizens from Bangladesh, India, and Sri Lanka will be able to enter the country.
