The US will send over one million shots of the Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine to Bangladesh.

“Under the Covax initiative, we will shortly get 1 million 800 Astrazeneca vaccine (doses) from the United States,” Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen said in a statement on Friday afternoon.

However, He did not say when the shots will be delivered to Bangladesh.

Bangladesh had sought the US for two million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to address immediate demand, the foreign ministry said earlier on Tuesday.

The White House said on June 3 that by the end of the month, it would share 80 million doses of vaccines with Bangladesh and 16 other countries and territories, with the majority of the shots coming from the Covax program.
