Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Ameer Junaid Babunagari said that the meeting, held last night with Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, was for the sake of national interest and not for the interest of any individual.

Babunagari made the remarks at a meeting at Makhjanul Uloom Madrasa in the capital's Khilgaon on Tuesday (July 7th).

"We had a meeting with the home minister yesterday for the sake of national interest, not for personal reasons," he said. At the meeting, we demanded the release of ulamas, the withdrawal of false charges, an end to arrests and harassment, and the reopening of Qawmi madrassas.

"The home minister has given a verbal assurance to accept our demands," he said. ''We hope the government will accept our demands and release the scholars soon.''
