The moon for the month of Zil Hajj on the Islamic calendar has been sighted, hence Eid-ul-Azha will fall on July 21 in Bangladesh.

After a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Sunday evening, Religious Affairs Minister Md Faridul Haque Khan declared the date.

According to media sources, Saudi Arabia will celebrate Eid-ul-Azha on July 20 because the Zilhajj moon was not sighted there on Friday.

The days of Hajj and Eid-ul-Azha are determined by spotting the crescent moon on the 10th of Zilhajj, the Islamic calendar's last month.

Bangladesh usually follows Saudi Arabia in celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha.
