Nepal President Bidya Devi Bhandari has appointed Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as Prime Minister.

This is the fifth time that Deuba is returning to power as the Prime Minister of Nepal.

Bhandari appointed Deuba as PM in accordance with Article 76(5) of the Constitution on Tuesday, reports The Himalayan Times.

Deuba's appointment is in line with the mandamus issued on Monday by Supreme Court to make way for his claim to premiership by 5:00 pm, today.

The Office of the President has already apprised Deuba of his appointment.

It has been learnt that the swearing-in ceremony will be held in Sheetal Niwas at 6:00 pm today.

Deuba has been engaging in back-to-back meetings inside and out of his party following the SC verdict, in a bid to decide on the faces that will join him in the coalition government.
