Ex-IGP AYBI Siddiqui Passes Away

Former inspector general of police and ex-secretary AYBI Siddiqui died of cancer at United Hospital in Dhaka in the early hours of Sunday. 

Md Sohel Rana, AIG (Media and Public Relations) of Bangladesh Police, said AYBI Siddiqui breathed his last at 1:03am at the hospital, reports UNB.

Siddiqui joined the police service in 1970 as an assistant superintendent of police. He served as IGP from September 27, 1998 to June 7, 2000.

He is survived by wife, a son, a daughter and a host of relatives and admirers.

The first namaz-e-janaza of the deceased was held at 10:30am at the SI Shiru Mia Auditorium of Rajarbagh Police Lines on Sunday in presence of senior police officials.

Incumbent IGP Benazir Ahmed expressed deep shock over his death.
