1.29 Crore Vaccines Will Be Arrived by August: Health Min

Health Minister Zahid Maleque has said that about 1.29 crore vaccines will be arrived in the country by August to prevent coronavirus.

He made the remarks at a press conference at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday night (July 19) after receiving a Moderna 3 million doses of vaccine. Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen was present at the time.

The health minister said that by the end of next month, one crore 29 lakh vaccines will arrive. Of this, 2.9 million will be Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines produced by Serum, 4 million Chinese Sinopharm vaccines under the BBIBP-CorV program and 6 million of Johnson & Johnson’s vaccines of the United States. The remaining 3 million have been bought.

The health minister said the age limit for vaccines would be brought down to 18. He said that due to the tireless efforts of the government, vaccination of Covid-19 has been confirmed from Pfizer, Moderna and Sinopharm after the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine. Now the age bar will be lowered to bring more people under vaccination program quickly.
