DMP Arrest 562 for Lockdown Violation in City

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 562 people today on the 6th day of the ongoing countrywide strict lockdown for breaching the rules.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of DMP's Media and Public Relations Iftekharul Islam confirmed the matter to the media today.

He said the police arrested 562 people in different police stations in the capital for violating the rules of the nationwide 14-day strict lockdown.

Besides, some 208 people were fined Taka 1,61,300 through the mobile court, he said, adding that the DMP traffic department also fined Tk 11.33 lakh to 489 vehicles.

The nationwide ongoing strict lockdown beginning on July 23 will continue till August 5 in order to stem the surge of coronavirus infection.
