Notification Issued to Relax Lockdown from Aug 11

Considering the socio-economic condition of the country, keeping the economic activities on the go and considering the overall Covid-19 situation, the Cabinet Division has issued a circular relaxing the existing strict lockdown.

The notification was issued on Sunday (August 8) afternoon.

According to the notification, the restrictions will be relaxed from Wednesday, August 11. From this day all government and private offices will be open.

Earlier in the day, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said, "After August 10, everything will be opened step by step." The Prime Minister will give the final decision in this regard.

The circular said that the decision of the inter-ministerial meeting to review the situation of Covid-19 infection held on August 3, to keep the socio-economic activities of the country on the go and to consider the overall situation, imposed restrictions on the overall activities/movement.

1. All government / semi-government / autonomous / private offices, banks and financial institutions will remain open following the hygiene rules.

2. The Bangladesh Supreme Court will issue necessary directions to the courts.

3. Road, rail and waterways will be able to carry public transport / vehicles with the same number of passengers. In case of public transport by road, local administration (Divisional Commissioner in City Corporation area and Deputy Commissioner at district level) in consultation with law enforcement agencies, concerned departments / agencies, employers and labor organizations in their respective jurisdictions will be able to introduce half of the total number of transports per day.
