Ministry of Religion Instructs Not to Hold Janmashtami Procession

The Ministry of Religious Affairs has directed to stop the procession of the followers of traditional (Hindu) religions for the Janmashtami festival due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

This has been informed in a notification of the ministry on Sunday.

The notification signed by the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry Mohammad Quddush Ali Sarkar said that all kinds of processions, rallies will be barred on the occasion of Happy Janmashtami.

However, all the necessary religious rituals will be observed following proper hygiene and social distance.

The notification further said that in view of the contagious situation, in accordance with the emergency notification issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs on August 8, the restrictions imposed on religious institutions of all religions will remain in force in the current situation of the country.
