Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE), today witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 22.67 points or 0.32 per cent to settle at 7075.49–the highest since its inception more than eight years back on January 27, 2013.

Two other indices--the DSE 30 Index and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) -- followed the same trend to close at 2,546.62 and 1,536.04, after gaining 12.64 points and 7.39 points respectively.

Turnover, another important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 29,015.26 million on the country’s premier bourse, which was Tk 28,683.77 million.

Gainers took a modest lead over the losers, as out of 368 issues traded, 154 advanced, 184 declined and 30 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

Beximco - the flagship company of Beximco Group-topped the turnover list followed by Saif Power, BXPHARMA, LHBL and Doreen Power.

ADNTEL was the day’s top gainer, posting an almost 9.93 per cent rise while DOMINAGE was the worst loser, losing 5.69 per cent.

The Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) -- soaring 99.27 points to settle at a record high at 20,662.37 while the Selective Categories Index – CSCX rising 61.30 points to close at 12385.80.

Of the issues traded, 123 advanced, 162 declined and 31 remained unchanged on the CSE trading floor.

The port city’s bourse traded 2.90 crore shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Tk 87.60 crore.
