Private University Student Drowns in Cox's Bazar || Photo: Collected
A
university student named Tawfiq Maqbool (23) died while taking bath at Sea-Gal
Point on Cox's Bazar beach.
The
incident took place at noon on Wednesday (September 8). Tawfiq was the son of
Nurul Amin, a resident of Adabar area in Shyamoli, Dhaka, and a third-year
student in the Department of Computer Engineering at BRAC University.
Beach Management Committee sources said three friends took a bath in the sea on
Wednesday. They were swept away by the tide. Lifeguard members later rescued
all three.
Sadman
Shakib, a friend of the deceased Tawfiq, said that when Tawfiq was rescued and
taken to the hospital, the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Cox's
Bazar Tourist Superintendent of Police Zillur Rahman said one of the three
friends had died. Another, Sawad Ahmed Yasin, 22, son of late Sajidul Karim of
Mohammadpur in Dhaka, is undergoing treatment at Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital.
