Private Sector Industry and
Investment Adviser to Prime Minister Salman F Rahman said that Bangladesh is
lagging far behind in terms of branding in the global market.
The Prime Minister's Private
Industry and Investment Adviser said, "We recently held a four-day road
show in the United States, where all the speakers, including expatriates, spoke
about the backwardness of Bangladesh in branding." In the future,
international media like BBC and CNN are thinking about branding Bangladesh. We
have already discussed this with the international media Bloomberg. Part of the
branding is 'Bangladesh International Investment Summit 2021'.
He was speaking as the chief
guest at the pre-preparation ceremony of 'Bangladesh International Investment
Summit 2021' organized by Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) in
collaboration with World Bank's International Finance Corporation (IFC) on
Sunday (September 12).
Salman Fazlur Rahman, Private
Industry and Investment Adviser to the Prime Minister, made the official
announcement of Bangladesh International Investment Conference-2021 as the chief
guest on the occasion. Bangladesh Investment Development Authority Executive Chairman
Md Sirajul Islam presided over the ceremony.
The summit will be held on
November 28-29 at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka. Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the virtual summit.
Speaking on the occasion, Salman
F. Rahman said that American businessmen had said at the road show that they
had got a new idea about Bangladesh. They did not know that Bangladesh has come
so far. They advised us to increase the branding.
"I think this initiative of
'Bangladesh International Investment Summit 2021' with the support of BIDA and
other investment development organizations will play a significant role in our
branding," he added. "We are going to transform from a low-income
country to a middle-income country," said Salman F. Rahman. The biggest
challenge facing us right now is increasing investment. I hope the 'Investment
Summit 2021' will be very helpful in meeting that goal.
As for Covid-19 pandemic, the
summit will be held through both physical and virtual means, which will play a
significant role in attracting investment in high-growth sectors by providing
effective public relations, exchange of views and partnership opportunities.
