24 Rohingyas Held While Fleeing Bhasan Char

Some 24 Rohingyas including 14 children were held while they were attempting to flee Bhasan Char in Hatiya Upazila of Noakhali, reports media.

Members of the Bangladesh Coast Guard and Armed Police Battalion (APBn) detained them from a deep forest, about 10 km away from Bhasan Char police station after a three-hour drive from 8:00 pm on Thursday.

They were handed over to the Camp-in-Charge (CIC) office in Bhasan Char.

After being detained, the Rohingya citizens said that they were supposed to go to Chattogram by waterway from Bhasan Char through brokers last night.

Confirming the matter District Superintendent of Police Md Shahidul Islam said legal action against the detained Rohingyas is under process.
