A 65-year-old man was allegedly hacked to death by his cousin over a property dispute in Ataikanda village of Pabna Sadar Upazila on Friday night, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rashid Mollah, 65, son of the late Kefat Mollah of the village.
According to the relatives of the deceased, an argument broke out between Rashid and his cousin Aftab Mollah on Friday night over the ownership of a piece of family land.
The argument soon turned violent and Aftab allegedly hacked Rashid to death with a sharp weapon. A seriously injured Rashid was rushed to Pabna General Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
The Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Aminul Islam said that the accused is on the run. "Attempts are underway to arrest him. A case has been filed in this regard."
