COVID Cases Show Signs of Slowing, Even as Deaths Surge Again

In the 24 hours leading up to Tuesday morning, Bangladesh reported 23 more deaths and 694 new cases of Covid-19.

With the latest cases, the total number of infections reached 1,569,452.

Since the first fatality was registered in the country on March 18, a total of 27,614 people have died as a result of the infection.

On Tuesday afternoon, Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), issued a press release revealing this information.

After analyzing 25,499 samples at several facilities in the last 24 hours, the country reported a 2.72 percent positivity rate.

Another 708 persons recovered from the sickness across the country, bringing the total number of those who have recovered to 1,520,296.
