HC Rejects Bail Plea of Helena in DSA Case

The High Court today dismissed Helena Jahangir's bail plea in a case brought under the Digital Security Act (DSA).

"Not pushed," remarked Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Md Badruzzaman of the High Court division bench.

The bail request was argued by senior lawyers ZI Khan Panna and Syed Fajle Elahi, while the state was represented by Additional Attorney General Sheikh Mohammad Morshed, Deputy Attorney Generals Dr Md Bashir Ullah and Amin Uddin Manik.

Helena Jahangir was apprehended by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on July 29 in her Gulshan home and seized foreign liquors, illegal walkie-talkie sets, sharp weapons, foreign currency, gaming equipment, and a deerskin.

On July 30, the DSA case was filed with the Gulshan Police Station. A fraud complaint was filed against her with the Mirpur Police Station, as well as a telecommunications act case with the Pallabi Police Station.
