Test Run for Vaccination for School Students Started Today || Photo: Collected
The
government has started conducting a test run for Covid-19 vaccination for
children at the Colonel Malek Medical College Hospital in Manikganj today.
Health
Minister Zahid Maleque inaugurated the program at Colonel Malek Medical College
Hospital around 12:30 pm on Thursday (October 14).
Adnan Azad, a
ninth-grade student of Manikganj Government Boys' High School, started the
program by vaccinating Pfizer.
"We are
happy today," the health minister told reporters after inaugurating the
vaccination program. The Colonel Malek Medical College Hospital in Manikganj
has started the test run for Covid-19 vaccination for school-bound students.
He said 100
people would be vaccinated at the hospital today. Later we will start this
vaccination program in about 21 places of the country. We will initially
vaccinate about 3 million students. The vaccine in Pfizer is of very good
quality. The vaccine is being given in many European countries.
“Our children
are coming to school,” he added. Today we started the test run for vaccination for school-bound children so that they are safe and protected from coronavirus. We now have 6
million vaccines. Which we can give to 3 million children.
There are more than one crore students in Bangladesh. The
health minister hopes that everyone will be vaccinated in phases.
On this day, 120 students are being vaccinated with Pfizer in
Manikganj. They will then be monitored for 10-14 days to see if there are any
side effects.
Today, 50 students of Government Boys High School, 50
students of Government SK Balika School, 10 students of Garpara Zahid Malek
High School and 10 students of Atigram, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman High School are being vaccinated with Pfizer.
