The BNP's seven-hour mass hunger strike demanding the release of party chairperson Khaleda Zia and improved medical treatment abroad has ended.

Former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Anwar Ullah Chowdhury broke the fast on Saturday (November 20) at 4 pm by giving water to the party's secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called for rallies on November 22 in metros and districts across the country demanding the same from the mass hunger strike. The rally will be held centrally in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka.

BNP standing committee members Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Dr Abdul Moin Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Mahila Dal president Afroza Abbas and Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP convener Abdus Salam North BNP convener Amanullah Aman, former general secretary of Chhatra Dal Akramul Hasan Mintu were present along with others at the mass hunger strike conducted by BNP's publicity secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie.
